In this multitude of violins, violas and cellos available, old and new, today's advanced musicians are faced with a difficult task , finding their own personal voice within an instrument. When making an instrument I aspire to integrate two factors , today's musicians tonal requirements from a modern instrument and an original aesthetic approach originating from the artistic principles of the Italian Renaissance. Although I prefer a full varnish finish, as was given to violins by the great Italian masters such as Amati, Stradivarius, Guarnieri etc. As they left their shop, I also occasionally make antique-style instruments. | |
